True Crime: Streets of LA

True Crime: Streets of LA is a video game developed by Luxoflux and published by Activision for the Xbox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube in 2003. Activision later released versions for Windows and the Mac in 2004. The computer versions contained various extras, such as multiplayer games, unlockable characters, training videos, and songs.

The game went platinum for the PlayStation 2 in 2004, as well as becoming Xbox Classics for Xbox and the Player's Choice title for the Nintendo Gamecube. A sequel, True Crime: New York City, was released in Fall 2005 for the Xbox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube.

When Motocross Madness hit shelves almost two years ago, gamers and critics alike were taken aback at just how much fun the first racing simulation from Rainbow Studios turned out to be. "Simulation" might not be the right word to describe a dirt-bike game with bare-bones setup options and a physics model that lets you pull off jumps and stunts that would leave real-life riders and their bikes piled up in a broken heap - but no matter how you define it, the fact remains that Motocross Madness was one of the most exciting and addictive games of 1998.

In addition, more than one user has reported problems with video-card compatibility in Motocross Madness 2, but the majority can be corrected with updated drivers. I experienced no graphic glitches at all when playing with either a TNT2 or Voodoo2, but I did encounter one or two desktop crashes after particularly long sessions in the Stunt Quarry. But on the whole, the game seems relatively bug-free and stable.

Motocross Madness 2 isn't the most realistic motorcycle simulation you can buy, but it's definitely one of the most enjoyable. The game's got a little something for everyone - and with a modest sticker price of around $35, it's also one that just about anyone can afford. If your system can run it, you'd do well to head out to grab a copy. You won't be sorry you did.

There was a period in time when the side-scrolling action-adventure was a dominant computer game genre. Computer side-scrollers were differentiated from their console counterparts by relying more upon puzzle solving than button pushing, with two games - Out of this World and Flashback - being prime examples of the genre (a complete list would also have to include the Prince of Persia games, the Dark Castle games, and even early efforts like Karateka, Conan, and Bruce Lee). The genre returns to its roots with Amazing Studios' Heart of Darkness, a simple and frustrating little chunk of a side scroller.

The only recent game to which Heart of Darkness can be compared is Abe's Oddysee, but even that comparison comes up a little short. Abe's was pure puzzle solving; Heart of Darkness is a mixture of action-oriented puzzles and puzzle-oriented action. As such, it can really only be compared to Flashback and Out of this World, a not-so-surprising fact considering that Amazing Studios is made up of numerous people who worked on both of those games. Like its predecessors, Heart of Darkness is made up of a series of static screens. In each screen there is a small puzzle, or piece of a larger puzzle that will encompass several screens. The puzzle can be as simple as jumping over a crawling beast or as complex as figuring out how to activate some mechanism that will open a door several screens away while keeping an ever-increasing number of enemies at bay.

Midtown Madness 2 is the second game in the classic Midtown Madness series. It's a classic racing game. Race around the streets of San Francisco or London in lots of different cars. It even has the LTV (aka a Humvee).

This game is tons of fun when you get all of the great add-ons (about over a thousand cars, lots of tracks, and tons of mods). This game was very popular. It had over 350 fan made websites when it was young, and still has about 80 websites and people modeling for it.

This game is a personnel favorite of mine. I have spent tons of time with this game and have had it for 2 years now (the only time I have not played it is when Runescape drug me away).

Midtown Madness 2 is the exact opposite of the typical racing game. Instead it's the simple racer for which PC speed freaks have been praying. It looks and plays better than most console racers, and while it is definitely an arcade racer and not a full-on driving simulation, that doesn't mean you can play it with your brain in park. The only people who might have a gripe with Midtown 2 are those who played the original to death, as the sequel is only slightly improved from the original. As in the original game, Midtown 2 features wild racing through busy city streets complete with multicar pileups and citizens diving for cover.

In Time Paradox, not all of the misplaced items are found in the same room. Instead, you'll have to travel to several different locations to find out where to use the items in your inventory. Some locations allow you to travel deeper inside, like entering a cave from the outside or walking to the docks from the main part of the village. As well, some object fragments aren't revealed unless you solve a puzzle or mini-game first.

Mortimer is able to write down clues needed to solve the puzzles in a journal that can be accessed at any time. For example, one of the puzzles in the Viking Age involved dialling a phone number on the payphone inside the tavern (yes, a payphone in 901 A.D. – this is why time paradoxes are bad!) Inside the journal was written a puzzle consisting of simple arithmetic equations that, when solved, revealed the correct phone number to dial.
